Lamar Jackson has a Quality Arm

Lamar Jackson is known for his highlight reel runs. However, few truly appreciate just how great of a passer he is. While comparisons don’t really do him justice, Lamar’s game is like a combination of Matt Ryan and Barry Sanders. Jackson can make all the throws, and he can make any defender look silly.

While looking at his stats, Lamar isn’t breaking any passing records. However, he is incredibly efficient when throwing the football. Here is a fun fact, according to ESPN’s Next Gen Stats, Jackson ranks 6th among quarterbacks for average completed air-yards with a minimum of 400 passes. That is higher than Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Carson Wentz, and Kyler Murray. Meanwhile, Lamar had a completion percentage of 66.1. This is higher than Mahomes, Rodgers, Wentz, and Tom Brady.

The narrative that Lamar Jackson is strictly a running Quarterback is laughable. How could the NFL’s leader in passing touchdown’s be considered a running quarterback? Jackson is statistically beating many elite level arm talents, therefore Jackson belongs in the conversation of elite level arms. The fact that Jackson can run the ball better than mot running backs is really just a major bonus.
