Josh McDaniels and Las Vegas Raiders are experiencing tough times in 2023, but what else is new for the franchise?
After a disappointing 6-11 campaign last season, the Raiders have gotten off to a 1-3 start this year, most recently falling to the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 24-17 this past weekend.
This is head coach Josh McDaniels’ second year at the helm, and his 7-14 record thus far is hardly impressive.
As a result, there are some questioning McDaniels’ future with the club, and that apparently includes his one of his own cornerbacks.
Marcus Peters liked a social media post advocating for McDaniels’ firing in what was the latest public display of discontent by a key Raiders player.
Adams would later clarify his statement by saying that he wasn’t really taking a shot at the front office or the coaching staff and was more referring to the players, but his message was loud and clear regardless of his explanation.
Peters is in his first season with Las Vegas after signing a one-year deal with the team during the offseason. Through the first four games, he has logged 16 tackles and one pass defended.
There was a time when Peters was one of the top cornerbacks in football. During his first five NFL seasons between the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens, Peters made three trips to the Pro Bowl and earned a couple of First-Team All-Pro selections. Between 2015 and 2019, Peters racked up a grand total of 27 interceptions.
However, since 2020, Peters has been in decline. He missed all of 2021 due to a torn ACL, and last season, he played in 14 games with the Ravens with limited effectiveness.
The Raiders will try to right the ship when they host the Green Bay Packers next Monday.
