If you didn’t know by now, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is special.

Herbert put together a masterful performance during the Chargers’ 28-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon, going 40-for-47 with 405 yards and three touchdowns. His performance catapulted the Bolts to their first win of the season.

In doing so, Herbert became just the second player in NFL history to throw for over 400 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions while simultaneously completing 85 percent of his passes, per Jason Reed of BB Chargers.

Sure, those numbers may be a bit arbitrary, but they are still astonishing statistics.

Through three games this season overall, Herbert has totaled 939 yards and six touchdowns with no picks, boasting a passer rating of 112.9. He also leads the league in completion percentage (74.4 percent).

Herbert, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oregon, was selected by Los Angeles with the sixth overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Eugene, Or. native immediately made an impact, throwing for 4,336 yards, 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 66.6 percent of his passes and recording a passer rating of 98.3.

The following year, Herbert made a trip to the Pro Bowl after finishing with 5,014 yards, 38 touchdowns and 15 picks. He also completed 65.9 percent of his throws and registered a passer rating of 97.7.

Last season, Herbert took a bit of a step back, tallying 4,739 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 picks, posting a career-low passer rating of 93.2.

The good news for LA is that the 25-year-old Justin Herbert seems to be bouncing back in a big way in 2023 and has been improving each week.

The Chargers are 1-2 and will host the Las Vegas Raiders in an AFC West showdown next Sunday.
