Miami Dolphins Receive Ominous Prediction About Tua Tagovailoa

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is preparing to enter the final year of his deal, and there are plenty of questions as to whether or not the Dolphins will extend him.

There hasn’t been a whole lot of chatter on the contract front for Tagovailoa, which is an indication that Miami may be comfortable allowing Tagovailoa to play out the 2024 season and then test free agency next March.

Colin Cowherd of The Volume spoke about the situation with Tagovailoa recently and does not think the Dolphins should give him a lucrative long-term deal.

Tagovailoa is coming off of a spectacular 2023 campaign in which he led the NFL with 4,624 passing yards to go along with 29 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing 69.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 101.1 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

It marks the second straight terrific year for Tagovailoa, who paced the league with a 105.5 passer rating two seasons ago.

However, there are many who feel that Tagovailoa is merely a product of two great receivers in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle and that the Dolphins would be better served going in a different direction under center.

Those who make that argument feel that Miami’s ceiling with Tagovailoa as its quarterback is low and will point to his struggles in cold weather and his lack of elite arm strength as reasons why the team should cut bait with Tagovailoa after next season.

The fact that Tagovailoa struggled mightily during the Dolphins’ road loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs this past January didn’t exactly help his case.

That being said, if not Tagovailoa for Miami, then who?

The Dolphins are trying to win now, and they aren’t going to be able to land one of the top quarterbacks in this year’s NFL Draft. They’ll also be too good in 2024 to get a top draft pick next spring.

It’s easy to say that Miami should move on from Tua Tagovailoa, but you also need to provide a solution. I don’t see anyone doing that right now.
