REPORT: Buffalo Bills May Trade Down In First Round Of NFL Draft

The Buffalo Bills own the 28th overall pick in the NFL Draft later this month, but they may actually trade down to collect some more assets.

ESPN’s Jordan Reid says that while there had been speculation that the Bills would be aggressive and try to move up for a wide receiver (even before trading Stefon Diggs), he is actually hearing that Buffalo would either prefer to stay put or trade down.

Reid adds that Florida State wide out Keon Coleman and South Carolina receiver Xavier Legette are a couple of players to watch for the Bills.

Buffalo dealt Diggs to the Houston Texans earlier this month, acquiring a 2025 second-round pick in return. The trade opened up a massive hole for the Bills at wide receiver, as they also lost fellow pass-catcher Gabe Davis to free agency in March.

That leaves Buffalo with Khalil Shakir and Curtis Samuel as its top two wide outs, which is not exactly an enviable situation.

Wide receiver is hardly the Bills’ only need, though.

Due to salary cap issues, Buffalo was forced to part ways with a number of key players last month, and it was unable to make many moves in free agency to counter the mass exodus.

All of this has put the Bills’ four-year reign as AFC East division champions in serious jeopardy, which is why trading back and acquiring more draft capital to fill out the roster may be the best course of action.

We’ll see what Buffalo decides to do in a couple of weeks, but there is no doubt that the Bills will be one of the most interesting teams to watch as the NFL Draft draws nearer.
