The Green Bay Packers released running back Aaron Jones earlier this week, and he proceeded to sign with the NFC North division rival Minnesota Vikings.

That means Jones will be seeing the Packers twice next season.

During his Vikings introductory press conference, Jones spoke about how it will feel to go back to Lambeau Field as an opponent.

“It’s going to be fun,” Jones said, via Ryan Wood of The Green Bay Press-Gazette. “It’s going to be a lot of fun. I’m just, ball. You know what it is? I mean, I’ve played in hostile situations, hostile areas, whatever. But to me, at the end of the day, it’s just going to be ball. I’m going back to where I used to play at the end of the day, but it’s just ball. Just go out there and make a statement.”

Jones added that his release is not “fuel to the fire” because he does not need extra motivation.

The 29-year-old is coming off of an injury-riddled 2023 campaign in which he played 11 games and rushed for 656 yards and a couple of touchdowns while averaging 4.6 yards per carry.

Jones came on late in the year, rattling off five straight 100-yard performances between the last three games of the regular season and Green Bay’s two playoff games.

The highlight of his year came during the Packers’ Wild Card Round win over the Dallas Cowboys, when he racked up 118 yards and three scores on the ground.

Jones was originally selected by the Packers in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Throughout his seven-year tenure in Green Bay, he made one trip to the Pro Bowl and registered three 1,000-yard campaigns.

We’ll see what Aaron Jones can do in purple next season.
