New Falcons’ Coach Doesn’t Hold Back On Pressure Of Job

Raheem Morris is back for a second stint as Atlanta Falcons head coach, but this time, it will not be in an interim role.

Back in 2020, Morris took over as coach of the Falcons after Dan Quinn was fired due to an 0-5 start. Morris led Atlanta to a 4-7 record the rest of the way, and that ensuing offseason, he took a job as Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator.

Well, now, Morris is the Falcons’ head coach yet again, and he means business heading into 2024.

“This is what we do,” Morris said, via Greg Auman of Fox Sports. “This job comes with pressure, and pressure that we’re all built for. You’ve got to embrace that. You’ve got to embrace those moments. You have to want those moments. We’ve got to live for those moments.”

Atlanta has posted six straight losing campaigns, so Morris understands that there is pressure on him to win now. The Falcons came close to winning an NFC South division title this year, but ended up going 7-10.

Clearly, Atlanta has some pieces in place, so there will be some expectations placed upon Morris going into his debut season at the helm.

“When you get a chance to go back home in this profession, it is extremely important, extremely critical to everybody involved,” Morris said. “That is a special moment, not just for me, but for my family. … I can feel the excitement in my texts. I can feel the excitement in phone calls. … I can’t express the joy that I have right now, to be able to come back and work with all these people around me that I’ve been with for years. This is certainly the best feeling in the world.”

Morris has been in the NFL since 2002, when he began serving as a defensive assistant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. From that time, he has steadily moved his way up the ladder, and now, he has reached the top.

We’ll see what Morris does with the opportunity next season.
