A few weeks back, Tom Brady hinted at the possibility of a return to the NFL, keeping the door slightly ajar for speculation. The New England Patriots were one of the teams that are listed as a potential comeback suitor.

However, Jerod Mayo, former teammate and current Patriots head coach, isn’t overly optimistic about Brady’s potential return to New England.

In a recent interview on WEEI Radio, Mayo shared his thoughts on the matter, expressing skepticism about Brady donning the Patriots jersey again. He acknowledged Brady’s enduring passion for the game but seemed doubtful about a reunion in New England.

“I love Tom, and the door is always open if he wants to come in here and coach. But as far as going on the field, I don’t know. But if he comes in here, once again, going back to the ‘hey, the best player will play,’ you’ve gotta come in here in compete, and he loves competition. I doubt he’s gonna be walking through these doors any time soon.”

During a guest appearance on “DeepCut” with VicBlends, the 38-year-old football icon hinted at the idea of a comeback not once, but twice, suggesting that retirement might not be permanent for him.

While the New England Patriots roster is currently packed, there’s undoubtedly no shortage of teams eager to entertain the idea of having the seven-time Super Bowl champion on their roster, even if only for a season or two.

Following the 2024 NFL Draft where the Patriots selected Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick, any fit with Tom Brady took an even bigger hit.
