The Dallas Cowboys will host the New England Patriots on Sunday in Week 4. The game always draws a lot of attention since both Dallas and New England feature large fanbases. This year’s Patriots-Cowboys clash comes with an especially intriguing storyline though, as star running back Ezekiel Elliott is set to battle his former team.

Elliott played with the Cowboys from 2016-2022. Tony Pollard is now Dallas’ lead running back while Elliott has a new home with the Patriots. Elliott commented on what he expects from an emotional standpoint for Sunday’s Patriots-Cowboys game in Dallas, per Todd Archer of ESPN.

“I mean, I don’t have that much time to be too emotional,” Elliott said. “I’ve got to prepare for a game. I’ve got to go out put my best foot forward. I mean, there are emotions. I may do a good job of kind of hiding them but there will be some emotions.”

Elliott found a lot of success in Dallas. He was selected to three Pro Bowl teams and led the league in rushing yards twice. He was especially impressive to begin his career with the Cowboys. His production began to decline as the years flew by, but Elliott remained reliable nonetheless.

He’s still only 28-years old and is capable of playing a big role for the Patriots. Ezekiel Elliott has recorded 122 yards on 28 attempts so far during the 2023 season. He has not been able to find the end zone yet this season, but that could change against his former team. After all, Elliott is going to have extra motivation.

The Cowboys are favored to win the contest. Dallas is 2-1 and features an all-around better team than the Patriots. That said, it would not be surprising to see New England make things interesting. Their defense is going to cause some problems for Dallas.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 PM EST on Sunday, October 1.
