Patriots Urged To Make Blockbuster Trade For Davante Adams

The New England Patriots could certainly use a No. 1 wide receiver, and Devon Platana of FanSided has the perfect antidote: Davante Adams.

Adams expressed displeasure with the Las Vegas Raiders following his team’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Sunday, saying that he does not have “time to wait around.” He also criticized the culture of the franchise.

The Raiders acquired Adams in a trade with the Green Bay Packers back in March 2022. The club then proceeded to go just 6-11 in his first season, and thus far in 2023, Las Vegas is just 1-2.

This has some believing that the star wide out could ultimately ask to be dealt between now and the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.

Could the Patriots jump in and try to make something happen? Platana is urging Bill Belichick and the front office to do just that.

Adams has been his usual dominant self through the first three weeks of the season, logging 25 catches for 322 yards and three touchdowns. That type of production would be a revelation for New England’s offense, which mustered just 15 points in a five-point win over the New York Jets over the weekend.

The 30-year-old would certainly make the job of young quarterback Mac Jones significantly easier. While Jones has been decent thus far, he could clearly use a talent of Adams’ caliber in the aerial attack.

Kendrick Bourne has been Jones’ favorite target through the first three games, and JuJu Smith-Schuster and Devante Parker represent the Pats’ other two top receivers.

While those guys are absolutely serviceable, none of them are on Adams’ level.

Davante Adams is under contract through 2026, so the Patriots would not have to worry about Adams walking in free agency should they acquire him.

New England has gotten off to a 1-2 start and will take on the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday.
