The New York Giants are in desperate need of help in their receiving corps, and they have the cap room to make some things happen on that front in free agency.

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports has identified a very interesting target for the Giants this offseason: Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis.

Davis is not a No. 1 guy, but he is a proven big-play threat who would bring some much needed game-breaking ability to a very unproven—and thin—group of wide outs in New York.

The 24-year-old is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played every game and caught 45 passes for 746 yards and seven touchdowns.

Davis, who played his collegiate football at the University of Central Florida, was selected by the Bills in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He appeared in every contest during his rookie campaign and was solid, registering 35 catches for 599 yards and seven scores. He posted nearly identical numbers during his sophomore year, snaring 35 balls for 549 yards while reaching the end zone six times.

Then, in 2022, Davis enjoyed a breakout season of sorts, hauling in 48 receptions for 836 yards and seven touchdowns. Most impressive, he averaged 17.4 yards per catch.

While Davis’ numbers don’t particularly jump off the page, he would be a welcome addition to a Giants offense that has been struggling for quite some time.

For reference, Big Blue’s leading receiver this past year was Darius Slayton, who totaled 770 yards. Yes, New York has young wide outs with potential like Wan’Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt, but the Giants badly need some proven talent in their aerial attack.

New York could probably stand to add a couple of weapons this offseason, but bringing in Davis would be a good start.

The Giants went just 6-11 in 2023.
