New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor is now healthy, but he won’t be getting his starting job back. Tommy DeVito is now under center for the Giants, and Taylor spoke out about it on Tuesday.

“Disappointed,” Taylor said when asked about his reaction to returning to a backup role, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “But it’s part of the game.”

He declined to go into detail about his discussions with head coach Brian Daboll.

Of course, Taylor entered the season as Daniel Jones’ backup. Multiple injuries have sidelined Jones throughout the year, and now, Jones is out for the season due to a torn ACL. It seemed only natural that Taylor would step in, but Taylor himself suffered a rib injury that knocked him out, as well.

As a result, DeVito—an undrafted rookie who played his collegiate football at both Syracuse and the University of Illinois—became New York’s last resort.

DeVito has not only managed, but he has actually impressed, winning each of his last two starts and totaling four touchdowns and no interceptions in those games.

In five appearances and three starts overall this season, DeVito has thrown for 697 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 62.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 92.4. He has also carried the ball 21 times for 83 yards and a score.

Taylor is in his second season with the Giants. He has played in seven contests while making three starts this year, totaling 579 yards and a couple of touchdowns while completing 65.5 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 92.1. In addition, he has carried the ball 22 times for 98 yards.

The 34-year-old was originally selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft and spent the first four years of his career with the Ravens. He then joined the Buffalo Bills, where he mad the Pro Bowl in 2015. After spending three seasons with the Bills, Taylor went on to bounce around between the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers and Houston Texans before linking up with Big Blue last season.

New York is 4-8 this season and will take on the Green Bay Packers next Monday.
