The New York Jets were able to secure a massive win against the Philadelphia Eagles at home in Week 6. With the win, playoff hopes are alive for the Jets.
In one of the most shocking games of the season, the Jets were able to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles behind a great performance from their defense. In the win, the Jets held the Eagles to just 14 points, as they forced Jalen Hurts into a lot of mistakes.
With the win, New York’s season has a much different feel to it now. As a touchdown underdog against the Eagles, many were expecting the Jets to head into their bye week with a 2-4 record and a slim chance of making the playoffs. However, the win puts the Jets at 3-3, with two straight wins heading into their bye week.
It can’t be overstated how important of a game this was for the Jets this season, and despite injuries on both sides of the ball, they found a way. Now that the Jets are 3-3, the team has to start once again thinking about how can they continue this and get this team into the playoffs.
After the bye week, hopefully, the Jets will be a bit healthier, as they were without both of their starting cornerbacks in the win over the Eagles. After the bye, they will likely be favored against a struggling New York Giants team. A win here would move the Jets to 4-3 and would hand them a 3-game winning streak.
Following the Giants game, New York will then be playing two other playoff hopefuls from the West in the Los Angeles Chargers and the Las Vegas Raiders. Both are certainly winnable games for the Jets and if they want to be a playoff team, they have to find a way to get at least a win against one of them.
Looking a bit further ahead is where the season might be made or broken, as they will be facing the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills in back-to-back weeks. With a win already against the Bills, Buffalo will certainly be looking to get some revenge at home against the Jets, as Josh Allen had one of the worst games of his career against the Jets in the season-opener.
New York has yet to see the Dolphins this season, but the Dolphins will be bringing a high-powered offense up north for a showdown with the Jets the day after Thanksgiving.
Stealing a win against the Eagles sets the Jets up nicely heading into their bye week. The schedule certainly gets a bit easier from here on out for the Jets, but the team must get healthy and remain focused. With the play from the team in recent weeks, there is no reason why the Jets can’t compete with anyone in the conference.
