Jets Trade For Cowboys’ Cooper Rush In Bold Proposal

If the New York Jets want to salvage their season, they probably need to make a change at quarterback.

The Jets entered 2023 expecting Aaron Rodgers to be taking snaps all year long, but the future Hall-of-Famer suffered a torn Achilles on the first offensive series of Week 1.

Rodgers’ injury pressed struggling young signal-caller Zach Wilson into action, and while Wilson was able to deliver a surprising upset win over the Buffalo Bills in the season opener, it hasn’t been pretty since.

New York has lost two games in a row largely due to Wilson’s incompetence, and now at 1-2, the Jets’ season, which was supposed to be ripe with Super Bowl dreams, is hanging in the balance.

The good news for Gang Green is that it has between now and the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline to make a move, but obviously, New York needs to do something sooner rather than later.

While Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has long been speculated as a potential target, there has been no actual indication that the Vikings are planning on moving him.

So where else can the Jets search?

Matt O’Leary of the Just Jets Pod posed an interesting solution on Boy Green Daily this week: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush.

Rush is currently Dak Prescott‘s backup, but the Cowboys may be open to dealing him for the right return, especially considering they acquired Trey Lance last month.

The Jets could offer Dallas a 2024 third-round draft pick plus a seventh-rounder, which would be a heck of a haul for a backup quarterback.

Rush has played in 20 games and made six starts throughout his seven-year NFL career, and while the results haven’t been fantastic, they have at least been passable, as he has thrown for 1,475 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions while posting a passer rating of 84.5.

At the very least, Cooper Rush has certainly looked better than Wilson.
