Jets Trade For Colts’ Gardner Minshew In Bold Proposal

This is not how things were supposed to go for the New York Jets.

The Jets entered the season with Super Bowl aspirations after adding future Hall-of-Fame Aaron Rodgers to a roster that didn’t have many other holes outside of quarterback.

With an impressive group of receivers and a stout defense, New York looked primed to make a deep playoff run in 2023.

However, on the first offensive series of the season, Rodgers tore his Achilles. This thrusted struggling young signal-caller Zach Wilson into the starting role. While Wilson surprised everyone by leading the Jets to a Week 1 upset win over the Buffalo Bills, he sunk back to earth in Week 2, putting forth a miserable performance in a 30-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Clearly, the Jets cannot seriously contend for a championship with Wilson under center. At least not at this point of his career.

As a result, many are wondering if Gang Green will try and acquire an experienced quarterback ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.

How about Indianapolis Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew?

Minshew has had an interesting NFL career, to say the least. He was taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft and actually had an impressive rookie campaign, throwing for 3,271 yards, 21 touchdowns and six interceptions in 14 games and 12 starts. However, injuries derailed him in 2020, and that ensuing offseason, the Jaguars drafted Trevor Lawrence.

Since then, Minshew has served in a backup role for the Philadelphia Eagles and now the Colts, but you can’t help but think he deserves another shot to start somewhere.

Why not New York?

The Jets could trade a 2024 fourth-round draft pick and a sixth-rounder to Indianapolis in exchange for Minshew.

Perhaps Gardner Minshew could be the missing piece New York needs to still contend in 2023.
