San Francisco 49ers
Similar to the Falcons, signing with the San Francisco 49ers would make sense for Gabriel due to his comfortability with the offensive scheme. Back in 2014, when Gabriel began his career with the Cleveland Browns, the offensive coordinator in Cleveland was Kyle Shanahan.
In his rookie campaign under Shanahan, Gabriel would haul in 36 receptions for a career-high 17.3 yards per reception. Then, just two years later, Gabriel would sign with the Falcons to reunite with Shanahan — who was the offensive coordinator in Atlanta at the time.
During his lone season with Shanahan in Atlanta, Gabriel notched 35 receptions for 579 yards and a career-high six touchdowns. There seems to be a common theme of Gabriel achieving career-highs when he’s with Shanahan. Therefore, it would be an ideal choice for the speedy wideout to play under Shanahan once again in 2020.
While the 49ers don’t run much 11 personnel, Shanahan excels at finding ways to utilize players in a multitude of ways. On the other hand, adding Gabriel would give San Francisco another wide receiver alongside Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and Kendrick Bourne.
