NFL Analyst Makes Bold Prediction For Jets’ Zach Wilson in Week 5

Zach Wilson, Jets

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson has been through the wringer. People have been clamoring for him to be replaced as the team’s starter and it was hard to blame the naysayers. Since being selected No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, Wilson has not lived up to expectations.

The Jets put all of their eggs into the Aaron Rodgers basket, but he lasted four plays before suffering an Achilles injury. That thrust Wilson back into the starting lineup and the results were as disastrous as you would expect.

But, something looked to click in Week 4 on Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs. After a rough outing against the New England Patriots in Week 3, Wilson put together the best game of his career in prime time on national television.

The Jets still lost the game 23-20, but he did give them a fighting chance. After going down 17-0 early in the game, he was able to help the team battle back into it. Could this be the turning point of the BYU product’s career?

His performance was certainly an encouraging one, as a glimmer of hope for this year’s season now exists. Marcus Grant of NFL.com believes that good performance will continue in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos. He is predicting Wilson to have another career game, accomplishing something he has yet to do as a pro.

“Maybe I was blinded by what I saw last Sunday night, but Zach Wilson appears to be turning a corner. The much-maligned Jets quarterback got the ball out quickly and moved the offense against the Chiefs. This week, he gets to face a Broncos defense that hasn’t been able to stop much of anything. Armed with a new confidence — and perhaps a better knowledge of the offense — I expect Wilson to hit new career heights by throwing three touchdown passes for the first time as a pro.”

If Wilson is going to set a career-high for touchdown passes in a game, this is certainly the week to do it. The Broncos were lit up by Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears last week, as he had the best game of his young career up to that point.

Going on the road and throwing for three touchdowns in a game would be huge for Wilson and his confidence. Most importantly, it would put the Jets in a position to take home a victory in what is a must-win matchup Sunday afternoon.
