With the recent struggles of the Chicago Bears, could we see the team blow it up if things don’t turn around? The future of both Justin Fields and Matt Eberflus are very much in question.
Through four weeks of the season, the Bears are looking like the worst team in football thus far. On both sides of the ball, things aren’t going well and they were recently embarrassed against the Kansas City Chiefs.
While the defense certainly hasn’t played well this season, all eyes have been on the struggles of the offense and their quarterback, Justin Fields. Fields was the 11th overall pick by the Bears in the 2021 NFL Draft, but things aren’t off to a good start for him.
So far this season, Fields has totaled 861 passing yards, seven touchdown passes, and five interceptions. With the Bears struggling, an NFL Analyst recently stated what direction he thinks the franchise should go in if things don’t get better.
Emmanuel Acho certainly makes some good points for the Bears, as the way things currently stand, a change needs to be made. The thought of bringing in Caleb Williams and Lincoln Riley also isn’t that far-fetched.
As we’ve seen so far on the field, the Bears are going to be hard-pressed to win games this season. Furthermore, with a poor record, they might have the No. 1 pick, or will certainly have the ammo to move up for Williams if they desire. Williams appears to be the top choice in the draft as of now, as he looks like a special talent playing for USC.
If they do have the No.1 pick, bringing Riley along with Williams wouldn’t be a bad idea either. The two have been together at both Oklahoma and USC, and Williams continues to get better with Riley as a coach. As we see with young quarterbacks, having a good offensive-mind coach is important.
We will have to wait to see what the rest of the season holds, but the situation at quarterback and head coach for the Bears is something to monitor. Matt Eberflus seems as good as gone at this point in time.
