The Minnesota Vikings have been one of the NFL’s most disappointing teams this season, getting off to a 2-4 start. What’s more, their two wins have come at the expense of the Carolina Panthers (who are winless) and the Chicago Bears (who are 1-5).
Needless to say, it looks like the Vikings are in some trouble heading into their Week 7 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
However, former NFL quarterback and current NFL.com writer David Carr feels that the 49ers could be in for a surprise on Monday night.
Carr is predicting that Minnesota will upset San Francisco and thinks that the Vikings’ defense will get the job done against a banged-up Niners’ offense, forecasting that the Vikes will be able to force some turnovers to swing the tide in their favor.
The 49ers may end up without two of their biggest offensive weapons in running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Deebo Samuel for this game.
Both players were injured during the club’s Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns, with McCaffrey going down with an oblique issue and Samuel suffering a shoulder injury.
Even if both guys suit up and play, they will probably not be 100 percent, so Carr’s prediction may not be too out of the ordinary when you take those factors into consideration.
Plus, while the Vikings’ defense has not been great this year, it hasn’t been bad, ranking 15th in the league. Additionally, this game will take place in Minnesota, so the Vikings will have the home-field advantage.
All of that being said, the 49ers will surely come ready to play this week after being stunned by the Browns (who were without Deshaun Watson) last Sunday.
The loss represented the first defeat of the year for San Francisco, and the Niners will obviously want to avoid a losing streak.
