NFL Analyst Suggests Blockbuster Dolphins’ Trade For Jaire Alexander

The Miami Dolphins may boast the NFL’s most explosive offense, but there is no question that they have some issues on the defensive side of the ball.

The Dolphins rank just 20th in the league in defense, allowing 343.7 yards per game.

For that reason, Miami could very well look to add some defensive pieces between now and the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline, and Sayre Bedinger of FanSided sees a potential target: Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander.

Alexander makes plenty of sense for the Dolphins are the current point in time, as Miami has been without prized offseason acquisition Jalen Ramsey, a fellow cornerback who has been sidelined as he recovers from a torn meniscus. Ramsey is progressing very well and apparently could make his South Beach debut over the next few weeks, but we have no idea how effective he will be without seeing live game action since last season. Plus, who wouldn’t want a tandem of Ramsey and Alexander?

The catch is, Bedinger expects Alexander to be pretty pricy and suggests that the Dolphins part with two first-round draft picks for the 26-year-old.

It’s hard to imagine that the Packers would refuse such an offer. While Alexander is good, most would agree that he is almost certainly not worth a pair of first-round picks, so if Miami actually made that offer to Green Bay, the Packers would likely take it and run.

Jaire Alexander is in his sixth NFL season, all of them coming in Green Bay. He has made a couple of Pro Bowl appearances, most recently doing so last year when he racked up 56 tackles, five interceptions and 14 passes defended.

The University of Louisville product is under contract through 2026 and has considerable money remaining on his deal, most of it coming at the back end. He would still be a very good target for the Dolphins to look into.
