The Las Vegas Raiders can’t seem to get out of their own way. That is of no fault to star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby.
Through the first four weeks of the season, the Raiders have gone just 1-3 and are coming off of a 24-17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers this past Sunday.
With the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline looming, many are surmising that Las Vegas will begin to sell off some pieces in the coming weeks, and one player whose name has been mentioned in trade speculation is Crosby.
Crosby has been one of the lone bright spots for the Raiders thus far, logging 23 tackles and four sacks over the first four games.
However, former NFL cornerback and current analyst Richard Sherman wants to see Crosby in a different uniform. On The Richard Sherman Podcast, Sherman mentioned the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets as three teams he thinks would be good fits for Crosby.
“He’s wasting away in Las Vegas and you hate to see it,” said Sherman.
Crosby, who played his collegiate football at Eastern Michigan, was originally selected by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
He made an immediate impact during his rookie campaign, registering 47 tackles, 10 sacks and four forced fumbles. Then, after a solid but unspectacular season in 2020, Crosby made his first trip to the Pro Bowl in 2021 after finishing with 56 tackles, eight sacks and seven passes defended.
The 26-year-old went on to enjoy the best season of his career to date last year, racking up 89 tackles, a league-best 22 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and four passes defended, making another trip to the Pro Bowl in the process.
It should be noted that Maxx Crosby is under contract through 2026, so Las Vegas has no reason to trade him in spite of Sherman’s plea.
