NFL Exec Doesn’t Hold Back On Chiefs’ Xavier Worthy

The Kansas City Chiefs traded up to the 28th overall pick of the NFL Draft to select University of Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy in a move that was widely praised.

The Chiefs were in need of another weapon in their aerial attack, especially given Rashee Rice’s uncertain status for next season.

A former NFL executive has told the NFL Analysis Network that Kansas City staged quite the heist with the addition of Worthy.

“This is the steal of the draft and nothing is going to change my mind,” the exec said. “Patrick Mahomes with an elite target faster than Tyreek Hill? Game over for everyone else.”

Mahomes didn’t really have many targets to throw to this past year. It was basically Rice, tight end Travis Kelce and not a whole lot else. It didn’t stop the Chiefs from winning their second straight Super Bowl, but it would still certainly behoove them to bring in some more supporting talent for Mahomes in 2024.

They did just that by drafting Worthy.

Worthy set the record at the Scouting Combine by running an incredible 4.21-second 40-yard dash, demonstrating his game-breaking speed.

He enjoyed a spectacular 2023 campaign at Texas, hauling in 75 receptions, 1,014 yards and five touchdowns.

The 21-year-old arrived at Texas in 2021 and made an immediate impact for the Longhorns, catching 62 passes for 981 yards and 12 scores. He took a but of a step back the following season, snaring 60 balls for 760 yards while reaching the end zone nine times in 2022, but he bounced back in a big way this past year.

We’ll see how Xavier Worthy fits into the Chiefs’ offense in 2024.
