NFL Exec Reveals Defensive Trade Target Dolphins Should Pursue

The Miami Dolphins may boast the NFL’s most explosive offense, but it’s pretty clear that their defense could use some assistance.

The Dolphins rank 20th in the league in defense, and while they are 5-2, that is something that could come back to bite them in January.

Fortunately for Miami, the club still has until the Oct. 31 trade deadline to make some moves in order to bolster its capability on the defensive side of the ball, and a former NFL executive sees a perfect target for the Dolphins in that realm: Denver Broncos linebacker Josey Jewell.

“The Dolphins could use some help in the middle of their defense. If there was one guy I think they should pursue, it’s Josey Jewell from the Broncos,” the former exec told the NFL Analysis Network. “He could be exactly what that defense needs to take the next step.”

The Broncos are just 2-5 after winning their Week 7 matchup with the Green Bay Packers, and just about everyone expects them to be sellers at the deadline.

Jewell will be a free agent after the season, and with him getting set to turn 29 years old on Christmas Day, he is certainly a prime trade candidate for a Denver club that may very well enter rebuilding mode in the offseason.

Jewell was drafted by the Broncos back in 2018 and has been a steady contributor to their defense ever since. His most productive campaign came last season, when he racked up 128 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, a couple of forced fumbles and a pair of fumble recoveries.

He has played in six games this season and has logged 43 tackles.

Jewell would likely not cost the Dolphins too much in return, so he would certainly represent a nice, affordable target for a team that absolutely needs some help defensively.
