NFL Exec Thinks Giants Could Trade For Davante Adams

The New York Giants have gotten off to a poor start in the 2023 season. They have been unable to replicate any of the magic that they had during the 2022 season when they shocked everyone by going 9-7-1 in the regular season and winning a playoff game.

The team’s offense has looked out of sorts in three games, which has led to middling results. New York was shut out 60-0 in their first six quarters of the season before mourning a comeback against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.

That second half was a prime example of how good the Giants’ offense can look when clicking, but execution like that rarely occurs. They struggled once again in Week 3 on Thursday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers, but they were without star running back Saquon Barkley.

The offensive line has been a mess once again, which has been a major reason for the team’s struggles. But, they have also been seeking a bonafide No. 1 receiver to lead the passing offense for years.

There was hope that tight end Darren Waller could fill that void after being acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. It hasn’t yet happened, but could he be getting some familiar help in the near future?

His Raiders’ teammate, wide receiver Davante Adams, has been mentioned in trade rumors recently after some comments he made following the team’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football in Week 3. If a trade is ultimately sought, a former NFL executive who spoke to NFL Analysis Network believes the Giants could be where he lands.

“Almost every team in the NFL will have interest in trading for Davante Adams. One team I think could jump to the front and get him is the New York Giants.”

Adams is exactly what this passing offense has been missing for years since they traded Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns. A bonafide star pass catcher is something that would help Jones, who has yet to find a consistent go-to receiver during his time with the team.

Alas, no matter how many weapons you put around Jones, it will come down to the offensive line. If they cannot block up front it doesn’t matter who is lined up out wide catching passes.
