2. Open Up Other Weapons
The San Francisco 49ers averaged 29.9 points per game in the regular season in 2019. They had offensive explosions against poor defenses such as the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Bucs, Cleveland Browns, and Arizona Cardinals. On the other hand, they scored just nine points against Washington, 22 against Atlanta, and 17 against Baltimore.
Signing Hilton in free agency will make the offense more consistent but it will also open up other weapons. George Kittle is one of the two top tight ends in the league. He caught 85 passes for 1,053 yards and five touchdowns. Deebo Samuel burst onto the scene as a tough receiver who is not afraid. He totaled 802 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie.
Right now, opposing defenses have to key in on stopping Kittle. If Hilton was in the mix, they would have more to worry about. He is a receiver that would open the field and give Jimmy Garoppolo plenty of options within the offense.
