How do you thwart an unstoppable force like Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce? Perhaps one of the most renowned defenders in NFL history holds the key.
Luke Kuechly, the legendary Carolina Panthers linebacker, shared his insights on the challenge of containing Kansas City Chiefs’ dominant tight end, Travis Kelce, during a recent appearance on Up & Adams.
When confronted with the question of how to neutralize Kelce’s game-changing abilities, Kuechly provided some intriguing advice.
Here’s the video of Kuechly revealing how to cover Kelce:
Despite being 34 years old, Kelce remains a force to be reckoned with, often leaving opposing defenses perplexed and powerless. Throughout the current postseason, this 11-year veteran has hauled in an impressive 23 receptions for 262 yards and three touchdowns, highlighting his enduring impact on the game.
Kuechly, himself a future Hall of Famer, boasts a wealth of knowledge when it comes to defending against the passing game. As the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year and a five-time first-team All-Pro, he consistently earned high coverage grades of at least 82.7 from Pro Football Focus during six of his eight NFL seasons.
However, these two defensive juggernauts crossed paths only once in their careers, during Week 10 of the 2016 season. In that matchup, which ultimately resulted in a 20-17 victory for the Kansas City Chiefs, Kuechly allowed a mere 10-yard catch on a single target to Kelce, showcasing his formidable defensive prowess.
