The Pro Bowl showcase of Eli Manning’s unexpected rap skills may have momentarily diverted attention from another intriguing development involving the Giants legend. With the Super Bowl now history, the spotlight inevitably shifts to the imminent NFL draft set for April. And amidst this anticipation, it emerges that Manning has been actively collaborating with Drake Maye, a standout quarterback prospect poised to make waves in this year’s draft class.

Drake Maye, hailing from the University of North Carolina, has found himself under the mentorship of Manning. Revealing the depth of their engagement, Maye disclosed to Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post his extensive immersion in Manning’s guidance. Their interaction extends beyond mere Zoom calls, with personal dialogues playing a significant role.

“I’m working out in Mobile, Alabama, and his backup quarterback in college was Dave Morris, and he’s training me for the draft,” Maye affirmed.

Furthermore, Maye had the privilege of attending the Manning Passing Academy camp last summer, affording him invaluable exposure to both Eli and Peyton Manning. Such hands-on experience and tutelage from two NFL greats undoubtedly position Maye favorably as he embarks on his professional journey.

Interestingly, this scenario bears a resemblance to a past occurrence. The current Giants QB, Daniel Jones, emerged as a top prospect from Duke University before being drafted 6th overall by the Giants in 2019. Jones, under the guidance of coach David Cutcliffe at Duke, benefited from the same coaching lineage that shaped Eli and Peyton during their college years at Ole Miss and Tennessee, respectively.

With Eli now retired from active play but deeply entrenched in quarterback development, his influence within the Giants organization remains palpable. It wouldn’t be surprising if his insights and connections extend to the team’s front office, potentially impacting pivotal decisions, particularly regarding quarterback prospects.

Meanwhile, Jones is in the process of recuperating from a torn ACL injury, with no definitive timeline for his return. Despite his undeniable talent and athleticism, Jones has grappled with injury setbacks, leaving the Giants facing a critical decision.

Coincidentally, the Giants hold the 6th pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL draft, prompting speculation: could Manning’s involvement lead to the selection of Drake Maye as Jones’ potential successor?
