Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson has turned a lot of heads in his debut NFL season.
The first-year signal-caller has also caught the attention of New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who spoke highly of Richardson during his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday.
“The young kid they got there, Richardson? He has got a chance to be really special,” Rodgers said.

However, Rodgers expressed some concerns about Richardson’s play style. Richardson has already suffered a couple of different injuries this season. He went down with a concussion in Week 2, and this past Sunday, he suffered an AC sprain that could prompt the Colts to keep him sidelined for a couple of weeks.
“Now, like I tell a lot of young quarterbacks? Sometimes you’ve got to slide, though,” said Rodgers.” He’s a big strong dude. I tell this to Josh Allen all the time, he had been doing it for a while. But, like, every now and then there’s a time and a place for you to run somebody over. Those plays are not, really, sustainable long, long term, that way of playing. He’s going to learn and I think he’ll have a nice, long career in the league.”
Rodgers has a point. Richardson is just 21 years old, so he should probably start limiting some of the physical damage he takes now so he doesn’t feel the cumulative effects of it down the line.

In three starts for the Colts this season, Richardson has thrown for 577 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception while completing 59.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 87.3. In addition, he has carried the ball 25 times for 136 yards and four scores.
The Colts have gotten off to a surprising 3-2 start and will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in a battle for first place in the AFC South this coming Sunday. More than likely, Gardner Minshew will be starting under center for Indianapolis.
