Buffalo Bills Trade For Brandon Aiyuk In Blockbuster Proposal

The Buffalo Bills are in need of a wide receiver after trading Stefon Diggs, and San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk could be available. Is there a match here?

Mike Fanelli of Rotoballer thinks so, suggesting that the Bills send the 28th overall pick and a 2025 second-rounder (the one they received from the Houston Texans in the Diggs deal) to the 49ers in exchange for Aiyuk.

Aiyuk is entering the final year of his deal, and with San Francisco dealing with some financial constraints, it may not be able to sign him to a long-term contract.

This has opened the door for a potential trade, especially with Aiyuk seeming pretty adamant about wanting to get paid his worth. That probably means he isn’t taking any hometown discounts.

Of course, the Niners do not have to move Aiyuk.

The 49ers are contending for a Super Bowl, so even if they know they aren’t going to be retaining Aiyuk over the long haul, they could take another shot with him on the roster in 2024 and then risk losing him in free agency next offseason.

And even if San Francisco does place Aiyuk on the trade block, would Buffalo make sense for him as a destination?

The Bills have a very tight salary cap situation themselves. They were forced to absorb a $31 million cap hit upon trading Diggs, and they also had to release numerous key players to get under the cap before the start of the new league year last month.

Obviously, Buffalo now has a need at wide out after losing both Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason, but it may be better served fixing that issue through the draft.

Brandon Aiyuk hauled in 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns this past season.
