Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown recently hinted at an impending deal to bring safety Justin Simmons to the team.
While Brown’s track record for predicting moves in the NFL isn’t flawless, he previously correctly anticipated the Texans’ acquisition of wide receiver Stefon Diggs and forecasted the Steelers signing Russell Wilson.
At 30 years old, Simmons boasts an impressive resume, having earned two Pro Bowl selections and four second-team All-Pro honors. He remains among the top safeties in the AFC, consistently contributing to his team’s defensive prowess.
Simmons showcased his versatility with a career-high 97 tackles in 2018 and an impressive six interceptions in 2022. While the Steelers recently added free agent DeShon Elliott to their roster, Simmons would undoubtedly represent a significant upgrade.
Looking at the fit between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Simmons, it would take the defense to the next level. They already added young rising star linebacker Patrick Queen in free agency. Simmons would be yet another move to get Pittsburgh back to legitimate contention.
Teaming up with Minkah Fitzpatrick, Simmons could form one of the most formidable safety duos in the entire NFL.
