NFL Scout Rips Apart The Jets Heading Into 2023 Season

Expectations are sky-high for the New York Jets entering the 2023 season. They made arguably the biggest acquisition of the offseason, landing quarterback Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers in a trade.

Seeking an upgrade under center, Rodgers will certainly provide that for Gang Green. Even if he only improves a little bit from his performance in 2022, that will be seen as a huge difference for the Jets, who didn’t score an offensive touchdown in the last three weeks of the season.

With Rodgers in the fold, there are a lot of people who believe that Gang Green is now serious contenders in the AFC. They have an excellent defense and great skill position players surrounding the quarterback, so some success should certainly go their way.

However, not everyone is excited about their outlook. One anonymous NFC scout that spoke to Mike Lombardo of Heavy.com stood out among their peers that Lombardo talked to. They believe the Jets are going to struggle mightily in 2023.

“You have to remember, it’s still the Jets,” an NFC scout bluntly said. “They’re going to suck. George Young used to say, ‘The f****** Jets always win the offseason, but when it comes to playing, they’ll always just be the f****** Jets.’”

That is certainly a hot take from the scout who seems to have no confidence in the Jets being able to succeed next season. But, more recently, there have been more people sharing a similar opinion to the NFC scout without the colorful language courtesy of George Young.

Former NFL wide receiver, Greg Jennings, is predicting the Jets to get off to a very slow start because of the difficulty of their schedule. His 1-5 prediction is one that riled up Jets fans.

It is easy to imagine the kind of visceral reaction that Gilbert Brown, another former Packer, received when he offered up his prediction. He actually believes the Jets will be worse than Jennings, saying they will go 0-6 out of the gate.

If New York get off to a start that poorly, there will likely be some major changes on the horizon. Acquiring Rodgers was supposed to turn them into contenders and that is what people within the organization see them as. If they go 1-5 or 0-6 out of the gate, people will be losing jobs.
