NFL Writer Makes Bold Prediction For Eagles In Week 7

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered their first loss of the season last Sunday, falling to the New York Jets by a score of 20-14.

The defeat seemed to be a long time coming for the Eagles, as the club had skated by with some sketchy performance in each of its first five wins.

But now, things are about to get a lot tougher for Philadelphia.

After playing an easy schedule over the first six weeks of 2023, Philly is about to run a gauntlet, starting with the Miami Dolphins this weekend.

However, Bruce Ewing of Yardbarker envisions success for the Eagles in spite of the fact that they will be facing the NFL’s most explosive offense.

Ewing thinks the X-factor is rookie defensive lineman Jalen Carter, who could be making his return after missing Week 6 with an ankle injury. Ewing mentions that if Carter can apply some pressure to Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, the Eagles should snare the win. He predicts a 34-31 triumph for the Birds.

Carter has certainly been a force thus far this season, logging 12 tackles, 3.5 sacks and a couple of forced fumbles in the five games he has played.

The 22-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was selected by Philadelphia with the ninth overall pick of the NFL Draft back in the spring.

All of that being said, Philly will need a whole lot more than just Carter to slow down Miami’s aerial attack.

The Eagles rank just 20th in the NFL in passing defense, as their secondary has been a fairly significant weak point all year long.

Plus, Philadelphia has even had its issues offensively, as Jalen Hurts has thrown seven touchdowns and seven interceptions thus far this season. He has already thrown more picks than he did all of 2022 when he finished second in MVP voting, so Hurts absolutely has some work to do.
