James Conner, Pittsburgh Steelers
The performance James Conner provided the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019 was a disappointing follow up to what appeared to be a breakout season the year prior. It didn’t help he suffered a knee injury in Week 2 and then later sustained a should injury in Week 8.
It’s reasonable to assume Conner was held back substantially by an underwhelming passing offense enabling defenses to easier focus on slowing him down. With Ben Roethlisberger back in the lineup, that should no longer be an issue.
The 2020 NFL season will serve as a prime opportunity for Conner to bounce back and significantly improve his long-term trajectory. Another underwhelming campaign riddled with injuries would be troubling to see, but a strong display would cause many to forget about 2019.
