The Green Bay Packers knew that there would be some challenges during the 2023 season. They made some major changes to their roster, embracing a youth movement on both sides of the ball.

The biggest change that occurred was at the quarterback position. Green Bay decided it was time to move on from Aaron Rodgers, trading him to the New York Jets. That opened the door for Jordan Love to take over as the team’s new starting quarterback.

After a hot start to the season, when Love threw six interceptions compared to zero touchdowns, things have gone downhill. He and the offense have not been effective, failing to score more than 20 points since Week 2. He has thrown at least one interception in five consecutive games as well.

During a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, general manager Brian Gutekunst was asked about Love and how much longer they will need to evaluate him. He didn’t give a ringing endorsement, mentioning how important the next 10 games to close out the season are.

During the summer, Packers president Mark Murphy revealed that he believed it would take about half of the season to figure out if Love is the guy or not. The halfway point is nearly upon is and at this point, Green Bay can’t make a definitive answer one way or the other.

Based on his performance of late, it would be fair to say the Packers are leaning toward going in a different direction. But, with only eight career starts under his belt, Green Bay needs to give him a little more time to figure things out.

There have been flashes of solid play, they just haven’t been present consistently enough. He is far from the only issue holding the Packers’ offense back this season, but he is the one player people are paying the most attention to.
