The Carolina Panthers are going to look much different in 2023 than they did in 2022 on the offensive side of the ball. Not only has Frank Reich taken over as head coach to implement a new scheme, the personnel is going to be drastically different as well.
The Panthers are going to have a new starting quarterback, running back and set of wide receivers as they cleaned house offensively. They were busy in free agency, signing Miles Sanders, Adam Thielen and DJ Chark to upgrade that side of the ball.
But, the biggest addition that was made was Bryce Young. The Alabama quarterback was the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Panthers, who acquired the selection from the Chicago Bears earlier this offseason.
Young has been making quite an impression in the early going, drawing rave reviews from his performance during OTAs. Former Panthers star Steve Smith Sr. made some wild comparisons about Young earlier in the offseason and those haven’t stopped coming in.
Young has been busy at work building chemistry with his new wide receivers in preparation for training camp. Some of the workout videos are quite impressive and he is once again drawing some eye-popping comparisons.
Sanders, his newest weapon in the backfield, made an intriguing comparison recently. He compared Young to his old starting quarterback with the Philadelphia Eagles, Jalen Hurts, saying he sees similarities between the two.
This is a lot of praise being heaped on Young, which will only lead to more pressure on top of what is already caused by being the No. 1 overall pick. But, it doesn’t seem to be phasing him, as he has already surpassed veteran Andy Dalton on the depth chart and is in line to be QB1 when the regular season gets underway in September.
