After so many counted Cam Newton out, he’s going to be on a mission to reassert himself among the NFL’s top quarterbacks. A matchup with the rebuilding Miami Dolphins is a favorable one to get the job done.

There isn’t film on him with the Patriots so it will be up to the Dolphins’ defense to have to react. New England should continue to have success throughout the season even after opposing teams make adjustments, but expect them to make the first punch.

Here are three bold predictions for Newton this week against the Dolphins.

3. Records Over 350+ Total Yards

The dual-threat ability Newton provides the Patriots at quarterback will enable him to maximize his yardage potential. Of course, most of the 350+ total yards in this projection will come through the air, but don’t be surprised to see him turn back the clock on a few rush attempts.

2. Scores 3+ Touchdowns

There wasn’t a single team that gave up more passing touchdowns (39) than the Dolphins in 2019. Miami did improve but they’re still rebuilding. Factoring in the rushing ability Newton provides, it shouldn’t be difficult for him to reach three combined touchdowns.

1. The Patriots start the 2020 season with a dominant win

While the Dolphins added plenty of talented pieces in the offseason, the Patriots should be able to comfortably win this matchup. Newton’s individual excellence will play a pivotal role in New England’s victory, providing the team with a 1-0 record entering Week 2.
