Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has expressed his belief that the Philadelphia Eagles would be the ideal destination for former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

“I like Philadelphia for three reasons. One, players. They got some players and the players they need are on defense. That’s Bill’s forte. Two, location. It’s an East coast team and he has family in New England. He’s got a life in New England, you know, he’s got grandkids and stuff there. It’s a close trip. You know it’s going to be hard to see him going to [Los Angeles Chargers]. And then three, the respect that he has for Howie Roseman. Howie’s beaten him in Super Bowls and Bill has a respect for people that do their job well.”

Over the last week, the Eagles have become a more and more attractive option for Belichick. After losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the likelihood of Philly firing head coach Nick Sirianni rose dramatically.

Edelman’s remarks come shortly after a Philadelphia radio personality hinted at Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie’s potential reservations about Belichick.

“I can tell you this for a fact, Jeff Lurie is not a fan of Belicheat,” Howard Eskin of SportsRadio 94WIP said“I can tell you that. I know that….I am positive that the owner is not a big fan, he’s not a big fan. He’s not the guy.”

While the Eagles may choose to stand pat with Sirianni for one more year, the option of bringing in Bill Belichick has to be intriguing.

There are so many directions that the Eagles could choose to go this offseason. It will be interesting to see what decision they end up making at head coach.
