Eagles’ Darius Slay Doesn’t Hold Back On Dolphins’ WR Duo

Some people had been doubting Darius Slay and the Philadelphia Eagles this season, as they had been winning games, but not with any real ease. However, last Sunday, they downed the Miami Dolphins 31-17, making a powerful statement that they’re still arguably the best team in the NFC.

Although the Dolphins have their own doubters as far as whether they’re true Super Bowl contenders, they do have the NFL’s top offense. A big reason why is their wide receiver duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, which could very well be the best such duo in football.

Eagles star cornerback Darius Slay did just enough to hold Miami’s lethal passing attack at bay on Sunday. But just enough, as he admitted that Hill and Waddle are insanely fast, and he even compared them to “charged up Teslas” while talking about two plays in particular that made him realize how borderline-unguardable they are.

Hill was “held” to 88 receiving yards on Sunday, although he did have 11 catches, which tied a season-high for him. It’s a measure of how special he is that someone such as Slay could be content with him having 88 yards, which would be a pretty big game for most other wideouts.

Hill, nicknamed “Cheetah” for his blinding speed, has a league-high 902 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns through seven games. Although he is banged up right now, if he stays relatively healthy, he could have a real shot at getting to 2,000 receiving yards this season, which is something no NFL player has ever done.

Waddle, meanwhile, is at 359 yards and two touchdowns in his six games this season. They have both helped quarterback Tua Tagovailoa develop into a Pro Bowl-level player and as a result, he has thrown for 2,092 yards and 15 touchdowns while completing 71.2 percent of his pass attempts.
