What an offseason it was for Philadelphia Eagles’ star cornerback Darius Slay. At one point, it was being widely reported that he was on his way out of town, but the two sides were able to work things out. Then, the team also went out and hired former Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia, who had a very strained relationship with Slay, to say the least.
There were quite a few concerns about whether or not Slay and Patricia could work things out. So far, things have been going well.
Slay took some time in a recent quote to share more information about where he stands with Patricia. The news is all good for the Eagles.

“It took a lot for both of us to talk, so we did a great job,” Slay said. “We communicate every day, we talk every day, we’re just trying to build everything going forward because at the end of the day we want to win. That’s his main goal and that’s my main goal, so we’ll continue to keep building.”
At the end of the day, the common goal of winning will always bring two sides together. Hopefully, the two can stay on good terms. Any kind of drama could pop off at any moment with their history.
Philadelphia is hoping for another stellar campaign from Slay in 2023. During the 2022 season, Slay ended up recording 55 total tackles to go along with three interceptions and 14 defended passes. Those numbers show why keeping Slay was such an important priority for the Eagles.

On the other side of things, Patricia could very well be on his final NFL opportunity if things don’t go well. It’s a necessity for his career to work things out in Philadelphia.
Expect to see both Darius Slay and Matt Patricia continue working well together with the Eagles. It seems the past has been let go of, which is sweet news to the ears of Philadelphia fans.
