The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are two of the fiercest rivals in the NFL, and fireworks are already brewing ahead of their Week 9 NFC East showdown this Sunday.

Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert already said that he loves the hatred between the two clubs, and now rookie defensive lineman Jalen Carter is entering the fray.

“I’m ready to kill the Cowboys,” Carter said, via Mike Fisher and Isaiah Deanda Delgado of Sports Illustrated. “Everybody’s got beef. I might as well join the wave.”

Of course, Carter is not very in tune with the Eagles-Cowboys rivalry, but he is about to get very familiar over the weekend.

Carter, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was selected by Philadelphia with the ninth overall pick of the NFL Draft back in the spring.

The 22-year-old has gotten off to a great start this season, registering 14 tackles, 3.5 sacks and a couple of forced fumbles over his first seven games.

Carter spent three years at Georgia and didn’t begin receiving significant playing time until his sophomore campaign. That season, he recorded 37 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. The following year, he posted 32 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, a couple of forced fumbles and three passes defended.

The Eagles own the No. 1 rushing defense in the NFL thanks much in part to Carter’s efforts up front. As a matter of fact, last season, they ranked 17th in that category, demonstrating just how much of an impact the first-year defender has had in the trenches.

Philly currently owns the best record in the league at 7-1 and hold a one-and-a-half game lead over Dallas for first place in the division.

The battle in Philadelphia will represent the first of two matchups between the pair of heated rivals this season.
