Pittsburgh Steelers: 3 most impressive stats from 2019

3. 54 sacks by the defense

Since 2016, the Steelers have boasted one of the best pass-rushing units in the NFL. As a matter of fact, Pittsburgh has led the league in sacks over the last three seasons.

The 2019 season wasn’t an outlier as the Steelers accumulated 54 sacks as a defense (most in the NFL). By looking at the roster, most believe that T.J. Watt is the only one that contributed any sacks this season.

Altogether, Bud Dupree, Cameron Heyward, and Watt all combined for 35 sacks alone in 2019. As impressive as that is, it’s equally impressive that the rest of the roster still managed to tally another 19 sacks.

The Steelers’ defense has had its fair share of struggles in recent years. While the secondary falters at times, the pass rush for Pittsburgh is consistent as they come.
