Pittsburgh Steelers Could Be A Good Fit For Hunter Renfrow

The Pittsburgh Steelers could use some wide receiver depth behind George Pickens, and Nick Pedone of Pro Football Network thinks that Hunter Renfrow could be the answer.

Renfrow was released by the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this offseason after two straight unproductive years with the club.

This past season, Renfrow logged just 25 catches for 255 yards without a touchdown.

There was a time, however, when Renfrow was one of the most prolific pass-catchers in football.

Renfrow, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was selected by the Raiders in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed a solid rookie campaign, catching 49 passes for 605 yards and four touchdowns. He posted very similar numbers the following year, snaring 56 balls for 656 yards and a couple of scores.

Then, in 2021, Renfrow broke out, hauling in 103 receptions for 1,038 yards while reaching the end zone nine times. He even made the Pro Bowl for his efforts.

But since then, the 28-year-old has fallen off the map.

Injuries limited Renfrow to just 10 games in 2022, and that season, he finished with 36 grabs for 330 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He was even less productive in 2023.

That being said, Renfrow has shown a clear ability to be a reliable receiver in the right situation, so perhaps the Steelers can utilize his talent.

Pittsburgh traded wide out Diontae Johnson earlier this month, so the Steelers could absolutely use another receiver in their aerial attack.

Mike Tomlin and Co. will probably try to find some answers in the NFL Draft, but it also couldn’t hurt to add Hunter Renfrow on a one-year deal.
