Players To Sell High On In Fantasy Football After Week 5

When managing a Fantasy Football team, one of the keys to finding success is knowing when to cash in on value. Having a player on your team coming off a hot week can lead to some duds hoping that he replicates that performance. Or, you can be proactive, looking to flip those players when they are at their most valuable.

Heading into Week 6, there are certainly a few players who would qualify as such. Whether it be a strong game and a daunting schedule ahead of a performance that could be an aberration, there are some guys to sell high on this week.

One of those players is Minnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison. The Vikings are working Cam Akers into the lineup more, which means fewer touches for Mattison going forward and a headache for Fantasy Football managers.

With short-yardage situations being split, Mattison could miss out on touchdown opportunities in the future. The passing-game work also went to C.J. Ham, who excels as a blocker but also ran some routes.

Mattison should be the go-to player when the Vikings are ahead, but that isn’t projected to occur too often going forward. With the valuable touches diminishing, get out from Mattison while you still can extract some value.

Another running back it is time to sell high on is Zack Moss of the Indianapolis Colts. He has played well enough to earn a role going forward, but sooner or later, this will become Jonathan Taylor’s backfield once again.

Moss has been stockpiling statistics on volume the first five weeks of the season, which will dissipate once Taylor is up to speed. The only thing that could keep Moss performing at the level in which he is in Fantasy Football is if the Colts trade him to a running back needy team.

A timeshare he is going to be on the short end of in the near future makes Moss an ideal sell-high candidate. Another player reliant on volume, this time of the touchdown kind, is Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis.

Davis has been racking up the scores in recent weeks, but his usage isn’t where you’d like it to be. Stefon Diggs is most often read one, two and three for Josh Allen as a target hog. The volatile style of scoring Davis provides is bound to have a dip sooner than later with unsustainable touchdown production.

Currently, at a peak, the time to move Davis off your Fantasy Football team is now. The same could be said about Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, George Pickens. With Diontae Johnson sidelined, Pickens has gotten a lot more looks in Pittsburgh’s anemic passing offense, riding that to a top-15 spot the last four weeks in PPR-style Fantasy Football Leagues.

There is some risk involved in moving Pickens, as this could be a sign of his breakout coming. If you are a manager who would prefer to have a sure thing, trading Pickens during the Steelers’ bye week is the move to make. His production could dip once Johnson and tight end Pat Freiermuth are healthy.

Speaking of tight ends, if you have been on the Kyle Pitts ride, this is the best chance you will have to get off of it. The highly touted Atlanta Falcons tight end caught seven passes for 87 yards in his most productive game of the season, finally outpacing Jonnu Smith.

That production looks like an anomaly as Pitts saw his participation in 12 personnel decline along with his already virtually non-existent 11 personnel participation. In the past, that meant he wasn’t on the field for running plays, but his routes run have dropped as well.

If there is any manager in your Fantasy Football league showing interest in Pitts, now is the time to move him. There are much safer week-to-week options available to rely on that won’t come with as much maddening uncertainty as Pitts.
