Predictions for Matthew Stafford In 2020
It has been quite some time since the Lions were viewed as a legitimate playoff contender. Once again, that will be the case. Detroit is not viewed as a contender in the NFC with so many teams improving.
Simply looking at the NFC North division, the Lions are expected to finish last. Both the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings are being viewed as borderlines contenders. The Chicago Bears are a bit unknown as well, but their defense makes them a threat.
Stafford and the Lions have their work cut out for them. The offense needs to produce at a high level and the defense has to take a big step forward.
There is no question that Stafford would have put together a massive season last year if he hadn’t gotten hurt. He already put up great numbers. In 2020, those numbers should look very similar.
ESPN has released their projections for Stafford this season. They have him amassing 4,214 passing yards to go along with 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
We are going to disagree slightly about the numbers that Stafford will put up. Instead, he will end up throwing for 4,300 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Not off by much, but a little bit more favorable.
Detroit may not end up winning 10 games, but they aren’t going to be a pushover win for opponents. Stafford won’t lead the Lions to the playoffs, but he will earn some much deserved respect.
Expect to see Matthew Stafford come through with a big season and prove once again that he is one of the most underrated players in the entire NFL.
