4. Arizona Cardinals
Not a knock so much on the Arizona Cardinals as it is a testament to how strong the NFC West is as a division.
Seattle and San Francisco should be considered locks for the playoffs until proven otherwise, while Los Angeles is just two years removed from an NFC Title, and even in a down 2019 season finished 9-7.
For as much talent as Arizona has, the inexperience from their key contributors might be too much to overcome the basement of the division. Kyler Murray is a good quarterback, but has just one year of NFL experience to his name, same for head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
Additionally, as it was last year, offensive line play might continue to be an issue plaguing the Cardinals. The third-round addition of Houston Cougars offensive tackle Josh Jones might boost their stock as a unit in the long run, but Jones isn’t looking to be an immediate one-man fix to the line as a whole– a line that surrendered 50 sacks last season.
There’s some top-end veteran talent on the team for sure from Chandler Jones to DeAndre Hopkins, and exciting young players like Budda Baker and the rookie Isaiah Simmons. But the big names might not be enough to overcome the deficiencies and inexperience facing the team as a whole.
