The New York Giants are one of the teams who are going to be taking a long, hard look at selecting a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. But, currently slated to pick at No. 6, they could be outside of the range of the top quarterback prospects in this year’s draft class.
Some combination of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels are expected to be picked first, second and third in the draft. Unless the Giants love another prospect, such as Bo Nix, J.J. McCarthy or Michael Penix Jr., they will have to use their first-round pick on another position.
That is unless they can find a team willing to make a trade with them inside the top three. The price to trade with the Chicago Bears for the first pick will be astronomical, but addressing the quarterback position with a top prospect is worthwhile.
There have been rumors the Washington Commanders may be willing to move down the board for the right price, but they are in the market for a quarterback as well. With the third pick, the New England Patriots need a signal caller, but they could be the team the Giants swing a deal with.
NFL News & Rumors: 2024 NFL Draft, New England Patriots, New York Giants Updates
What could it cost the Giants to move up from No. 6 to No. 3? According to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, who spoke to NFL insider Daniel Jeremiah, the price would be three second-round picks.
New York would trade the No. 6 pick, the two second-rounders they have this year and their second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to get the deal done. If that is an offer on the table, the Giants should look to hammer out the details and make that official.
Moving into the No. 3 spot would guarantee them one of Williams, Maye and Daniels. It would improve the long-term outlook of the franchise as Daniel Jones has proven time and time again he is not someone who will elevate the team to championship caliber.
