As the 2023 NFL Draft draws closer and closer, the Las Vegas Raiders are becoming a team to keep a close eye on. Many believe that they will look to add their future quarterback. One potential avenue to doing just that could be swinging a trade with the San Francisco 49ers for young quarterback Trey Lance.

Following the major outbreak of Brock Purdy at the end of last season, the 49ers have been very open about their confidence in the former Iowa State standout. Purdy appears to be the long-term quarterback in San Francisco. To start the season, it seems likely that veteran Andy Dalton will be the starter until Purdy is ready to play.

That has led to quite a few trade rumors swirling around Lance. Many different teams have been suggested as possible trade destinations for the former No. 3 overall pick.

Silver and Black Pride, a Raiders’ website, talked about the possibility that Las Vegas could look to trade for Lance. The rumors have connected the Raiders as a possible landing spot.

Because Lance came into the NFL raw with just 19 college games played and he has appeared in just eight games so far in the NFL, teams may not be interested in giving up too much for him. So, it’s likely going to come down to the price tag whether or not Lance is traded in the next week.

Lance has not had much of a chance to show what he’s capable of in his young NFL career. Last season, he entered the season as the starter and played in just two games before going down with a season-ending injury. As a rookie, Lance played sparingly and ended up playing in six total games.

In the eight career games he has played, Lance has completed 54.9 percent of his pass attempts for 797 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions. He has also picked up 235 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

All of that being said, the Raiders are still a very intriguing trade destination for Trey Lance. They may not end up pursuing him, but the move would make a lot of sense for all parties involved. If they don’t trade for a player like Lance, Las Vegas may opt to get aggressive moving up for a quarterback in the draft.
