Raiders’ Struggles Leading To Mounting Frustrations

Every week there seems to be something new that the Las Vegas Raiders can be ridiculed for. The 2023 season has not gone anywhere according to plan for the franchise, as they are off to another slow start at 1-3.

Winning on the road is hard enough; attempting to do so without your starting quarterback and with a rookie taking his place is another level of difficulty. Playing without starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Raiders lost 24-17.

It was another close game that was there for the taking, but late-game execution and some head-scratching play calls led to the team coming up short. With the losses piling up, frustrations are beginning to mount as well.

After the team’s Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, star wide receiver Davante Adams did not hide his frustrations. He was vocal, saying he didn’t have time to wait around for things to get better. It was a sentiment that pass rusher Maxx Crosby backed him on.

Following the most recent loss, Adams’s displeasure is being discussed again. Joining him this time is star running back Josh Jacobs, who is fed up with how much losing the franchise is doing. JPAFootball on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared the update, questioning if the Raiders could become sellers ahead of the October 31st deadline.

The schedule does lighten up in the next few weeks as the Raiders will host the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots before going on the road to play the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions ahead of the deadline. After that, they host the New York Giants and New York Jets in consecutive weeks.

Those are a lot of winnable games for the Raiders if they can play up to their potential. It will be their best chance to turn things around, otherwise, there could be some major changes on the horizon to their roster and coaching staff.

If Las Vegas is under .500 after their game against the Lions, ownership should strongly consider being sellers. Adams and Jacobs should be able to fetch a decent price on the trade market and would be a good place to start on a firesale.
