The Green Bay Packers have done a solid job of filling numerous needs on the roster during the 2023 NFL Draft. They added pass rush Lukas Van Ness with their first-round pick and then get to work adding weapons around new quarterback, Jordan Love.

Love had to be ecstatic when Green Bay spent Day 2 adding multiple playmakers. With the second-round pick they acquired from the New York Jets, the Packers selected tight end Luke Musgrave.

General manager Brian Gutekunst got aggressive, trading back into the second round in a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With the No. 50 overall pick, the Packers selected Michigan State wide receiver, Jayden Reed.

Reed will round out the top three of the wide receiver depth chart with Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, giving Green Bay a solid young trio for Love to grow with. The Packers weren’t done adding weapons, as they doubled down at tight end in Round 3. With the 78th overall pick, they selected Tucker Kraft out of South Dakota State.

Fans have to be happy about the commitment to adding pass catchers to the offense after passing on all of them in Round 1, as not a single wide receiver or tight end was selected. Now, the biggest needs of the franchise all lie on the defensive side of the ball.

One position to keep an eye on is safety. As things currently stand, the depth chart could certainly use a boost. Darnell Savage Jr. struggled in 2022 and their best player, Adrian Amos remains a free agent.

However, that may not be the case for long. Defensive back Rasul Douglas recently took to Twitter, hinting at a possible return for Amos to Green Bay.

That would be a huge signing for the Packers, as Amos was their best player at the safety spot last season. His 102 combined tackles and seven tackles for loss were both career highs. He also added two quarterback hits, five passes defended and one interception, starting all 17 games and playing 94.6 percent of the defensive snaps.
