The injury bug has hit the Baltimore Ravens very hard in the early going of the 2023 season. They have already lost running back J.K. Dobbins for the season to an Achilles injury and safety Marcus Williams is going to be sidelined for a while with a pectoral injury.

In Week 2, the Ravens were also without center Tyler Linderbaum, tackle Ronnie Staley and cornerback Marlon Humphrey. The hits have just kept coming this week, as two more key players were not practicing to start the week.

Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. missed practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury that he suffered in the first half against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. He was able to come back for a few players but sat out the entire second half. Beckham has been quiet thus far this season, catching five passes for 66 yards.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has said the injury is not serious, but it is bad enough that he is missing practice time. He said the same thing about the injury to Odafe Oweh, who also missed practice because of an ankle injury.

They were two of eight players who didn’t take the field with their teammates on Wednesday for practice. Two of them were new additions as defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was absent because of an illness and running back Justice Hill was dealing with a toe injury.

Hill is reportedly in danger of missing Week 3’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. If he is sidelined, expect Gus Edwards and Melvin Gordon to handle a bulk of the work out of the backfield, along with quarterback Lamar Jackson being involved as a runner.

The Ravens’ facility is turning into a rehab center as they are dealing with a ton of injuries up and down the roster. The four players who missed last week’s game, Linderbaum, Stanley, Humphrey and Williams, were all sidelined to start the practice week as well.
